The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation (2 Samuel 22:47).
The powerful words of David are sacred poetry, and found also in Psalm 18. They are inspiring to us even today as we often sing them together. This is a reminder that the “Lord liveth” which literally means, “the Lord continues to live.” He is ever-present in our lives. David often wrote using such terms as “my rock, my fortress, my high place,” etc. which show the protection of the Lord in his life, especially when he felt alone and on the run for his life.
The rock was symbolic of the strength found in God’s salvation and carries us through each day as we face difficulties and trials in our lives.
