Without Sin

When Jesus fasted forty days and nights in the wilderness, it may seem superfluous for Matthew to point out that the Savior hungered. However, it should be considered that, though Christ was Divine, He occupied the body of a man while upon the earth, and we are shown that He was subject to the same physical needs as all of us. This fact makes the Lord relevant to us not only as a Savior, but also as One Who for thirty-three years experienced humanity as a human would. In so doing, He provided the ultimate example of how to complete the human experience with spiritual success. As the Hebrew writer noted, “We have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like as are we, yet without sin.”
