These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so (Acts 17:11).
What kind of preacher do you have?
What kind do you want? Now turn that around. As your preacher preaches, what kind of listener are you? What kind do you think he wants?
Faithful preachers of the gospel want listeners like the Bereans. There was an eagerness (“readiness of mind”) on their part as they listened to Paul’s preaching. Then they made an examination of his preaching by comparing what he said with what their Bible said. When there is the faithful preaching of the gospel, and the favorable reception of the same, the results will be pleasing to everyone, especially to God.
