Daily Lift – January 20, 2016

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children (Hosea 4:6).

How interested are we in the knowledge of God’s Law? How carefully do we seek it? How strongly do we hold onto it?

Knowledge was available in Hosea’s day, but God’s people rejected it. Even God’s priests, charged with knowing (and helping others to know) God’s will, had forgotten the law of God. What sadder words could there be than, “I will also reject thee,” and “I will also forget thy children”? Israel went into captivity – for rejecting God and His Law.

Let us learn from their destruction, and follow the admonition: “…grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour…” (2 Peter 3:18).
