For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad (2 Corinthians 5:10).

This passage contains a reminder, warning and promise for our consideration.

First, we find the people assembled. The writer reminds us that “we must all appear,” all will be raised from the dead (John 5:28-29).

Second, we find the place appointed. This place: “before the judgment seat of Christ.” He is the One before Whom each will stand (John 5:22).

Third, we find the purpose assigned. This purpose is “that every one may receive the things done in his body,” a fearful matter (Hebrews 10:31) or a comforting thought (Revelation 14:13).

Fourth, we find the particulars addressed. Whether an individual has done “good or bad.” This verse reminds us to do good and serve well.
