For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe (1 Timothy 4:10).

A key word in the book of Psalms is “trust.”

The Psalmist often suffered, even faced death, but he maintained his trust in God, and prayed: “O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me” (Psalm 7:1).

Likewise, the wise man penned the virtue of trust in the living God: “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him” (Proverbs 30:5).

Trust in God motivates us to labor for Him, lightens our burdens, and strengthens us in suffering for His cause. Believing in Him, we know Him as our Saviour, in whom we trust.
