Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God (Leviticus 20:7).
Leviticus contrasts the clean with the unclean, the holy with the unholy. The conclusion is clear: those who serve God must be holy!
In a vision, Isaiah heard one of the seraphims cry out: “Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory” (Isaiah 6:1-4).
Peter wrote: “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:15-16).
Our God, who is holy and separate from sin, will not allow sin into His presence (cf. Rev. 21:27), but we can be in His glorious presence, if we will be holy.
